There are two ways to order a Bonanno:
When you order a complete bicycle, you’ll benefit from our experience in every aspect of the custom bicycle, including custom wheel builds, component selection, and assembly.
If you would rather involve your trusted local bike shop or assemble it yourself, a painted frame package is right for you.
Each frame that rolls out of our workshop is a creative collaboration with you, the customer. In the design journey, your voice will play a vital role in shaping your Bonanno to make it uniquely yours.
Step-by-step order process
Step 1
Say Hello
The first step toward your dream Bonanno is as easy as saying “hello”—reach out to us via email after you’ve browsed through our frame portfolio. You can also drop by in person, but there’s the chance we might be out riding.
Even when it gets a little hectic in the workshop, we strive to answer within three days to ask a few questions so we get to know you as a cyclist. Then, you’ll receive an offer with a price quote and an estimated lead time for your future Bonanno bicycle.
Step 2
Deposit
After looking over our offer, it’s time to place your deposit and thereby secure your slot in the build queue. Now the design work can begin. The design is a collaboration, so you’ll get some homework in the form of our order guide and paint booklet. After receiving your input, we’ll get back to you within five business days for the next step in the journey of your dream Bonanno.
Step 3
Design
Our design process is a conversation through which we get to know you as a rider and person so we can build your perfect ride. Based on your measurements, the type of riding you do, and your preferences, we’ll create a design in the form of a CAD drawing, as well as a visual mockup of the paint scheme in case you get a custom paintjob.
Fit
A good bike fit is essential for a performance bicycle to feel like a natural extension of the body. We have three ways to get your fit dialed in. You can get a third-party fitting done, provide us with the geometry details of a well-fitting bike you already own, or get a factory fit at our workshop.
Paint
Next to the custom geometry and exquisite craftsmanship, personalized touches are what make your Bonanno truly special. We support you in the creative journey with our inspirational paint booklet. You choose one of our paint schemes or we do a custom design for an additional charge.
Components
If you’re going for a complete bike, now is the time to specify all the components. Though we have access to all the parts out there, we advise taking a closer look at our favored partners for parts to decorate your Bonanno with.
Step 4
Sign-Off
Finally, you review the design we provide, consisting of the CAD drawing and paint scheme. Once you’ve signed off on the design, it enters the build queue.
Step 5
Construction
Your patience has paid off—your Bonanno frame has reached the top of the build queue and is next line for manufacturing. Building your Bonanno is a two-week process of cutting and bending tubes to measure, tacking, and then welding. We’ll keep you current with regular updates on your dream bike in the making.
Step 6
Assembly
If you ordered a complete bike, the final step is to assemble the components. Far more than just sticking parts together, our mechanics work with precision to complete your perfectly fitting bicycle.
Step 7
Ride
Your Bonanno bicycle is completed and awaits its maiden voyage. We can arrange EU delivery of your frame or you can visit us in our Berlin workshop to pick it up in person. Complete bikes require pick-up in Berlin.
Finishing a custom bicycle is always incredibly satisfying. However, the greatest reward in framebuilding are the lasting connections we get to forge with our customers, whose trust in our work makes it all possible. We look forward to hearing of your adventures with your new Bonanno bicycle.

How long do I have to wait for my frame?
As of September 2022, our lead time is approximately three months for a painted frame and five to six months for a complete bicycle. We keep you up to date on your frame’s status as it is being produced. As a very small framebuilding business, we strongly feel the effects of COVID-19 on our supply chain. While the supply of raw materials for our frames is stable, the availability of components remains unpredictable. We’ll keep you informed of any possible delays.
How can I speed up the order process?
Bonanno frames are made to order strictly according to the date of deposit. The best way to ensure swift delivery of your frame is to reserve your slot in the build queue by placing your deposit without delay.
What is the warranty on the frame?
Bonanno frames are built to last a lifetime in their intended use. Our test riders frequently take our frames beyond that limit and, despite their best attempts, we've had no frame failures to date. However, as with any machine, breakdowns are always a possibility. We stand behind our work and promise to get you back riding hassle-free in the unlikely case that things do go wrong. See our warranty for all the details.
Do I need to get a bike fit?
Not necessarily. Plenty of our customers are perfectly comfortable on their frames without a prior bike fit. We use multiple approaches to tailor each Bonanno frame to your body. We provide a comprehensive sizing sheet that includes a detailed description of how to take these measurements at home. Alternatively, you may enlist a trusted bike-fitter to determine these measurements. As a final option, you may provide us your current bike’s geometry, which we can use as a base to design your new Bonanno frame.
What if I make an error when taking my measurements?
Our sizing sheet goes into detail on how to measure your body and our well-proven design and review process ensures that no mistakes slip through. If you’re still unsure about a measurement step, or any other question relating to your frame, call us and we’ll work through it together. From our experience of delivering hundreds of frames to satisfied customers, we know exactly which questions to ask so we get all the right information to tailor your frame to you.
What do I get with a Bonanno frame package?
A frame package consists of the painted frame and fork with the stainless steel Bonanno headtube badge, thru-axles, small frame parts, and a spare derailleur hanger to keep you riding.
Can you make me a fully custom design?
At Cicli Bonanno, we build custom bicycles based on our range of models. Focusing on our established designs allows us to steadily refine our product and offer a consistent order experience to our customers. We may very occasionally engage in one-off custom projects if they match our philosophy and fit into our production schedule. Send us a note with your detailed proposal and we’ll be glad to discuss it further.
