This year we decided to do something special: sponsor a friend, an athlete, a person we greatly admire — Paul Evans.
If you know us, you know how much Niccolò Bonanno loves racing. Whether it’s gravel, cyclocross, or road, the sport is close to our hearts. But for a small workshop like ours, supporting an athlete is a serious commitment — it takes time, energy, and resources that aren’t always easy to spare.
With Paul, though, the decision came easily.
Over the past few years — and many rides together — we’ve watched his passion for racing grow deeper and more focused. Paul has been racing bikes for over 13 years. He started on the track at London’s legendary Herne Hill Velodrome, moved through the British Cycling categories in road and criterium racing, and has competed in everything from Red Hook fixed gear crits to ultra-distance events like Further.
But Paul isn’t just a racer. He’s also a craftsman. He’s worked at places we deeply respect, like Fern and Shand, and he understands what it means to build something with your hands — with care and dedication. That shared perspective made all the difference. We knew he’d understand the value — and the effort — behind a sponsorship from a small workshop like ours.
Supporting Paul this gravel and cyclocross season feels natural to us — almost inevitable. We’re super excited to back him with a Stay Loco frame and team up with him for the season ahead.
Luckily for us, Robert from Velociao didn’t hesitate to lend his artistry, creating a beautiful paint job based on graphics by our friend Scott Warren.
The design on the frame is borrowed from our new “Edizione Corsa” jersey, designed by Scott. You’ll see Paul wearing it this season, and we’ll share more about it in the coming weeks.
We’re extremely thankful for the support of brands we’ve worked with for years — those who believed in this project and offered their best: Thank you Hunt and QVIST for the wheelset, KASK for the helmet, Fizik for the shoes, and Maxxis for the tires.
We don’t know where this adventure will take us, but one thing’s for sure: for a while, we’ll have fun watching Paul race through dust and mud.
He’s got a full calendar ahead — a great mix of classics, gravel challenges, and new adventures. Here’s what his 2025 season looks like so far:
