I have known Nico for several years and a year ago I moved to Berlin; more precisely, my studio is now part of Werkstatt Bonanno.
It was 2017 when we met to build two frames for a project on the Transcontinental race no. 5 and now here we are.
My name is Stefano Zotti I come from an artisan family in northern Italy and I draw, paint and photograph as well as frequently ride my bike.
Since I moved to Berlin I have been working more and more assiduously on the workshop's communication and in my desire to tell more and more about the daily experience of the frame builder and the passion behind the tubes and frames, I thought I would do it in a medium that I am equally passionate about, the printed paper.
In addition, having the good fortune to share the workspace with Nico allows me to photograph him very freely.
The idea is to independently publish a zine of the workshop, an appointment periodical made up of images and texts, instructions and stories, bound in small volumes with a limited print run to celebrate and tell about everything that gravitates around Gorlitzer Strasse 52.
The first volume collects some archival images taken during the Mogast ( an Italian/Berlin event that takes place in the Alps on the peaks of Mortirolo Gavia and Stelvio ) by myself and two other photographers: Stefan Haehnel and Bengt Stiller, both of whom have long been connected with Nico.
This is how I introduce myself to the Cicli Bonanno public, hoping to meet more and more of you, on a bike or not, in Berlin or elsewhere but in the meantime, you will find me very often here among the pages of this journal.
The zine is now available in the shop.
Cheers!
